EcoMUVE: Advancing Ecosystems Science Education via Situated Collaborative Learning in Multi-User Virtual Environments
Black's Nook

About Black's Nook

One of the ecosystems featured in EcoMUVE will be based on Black's Nook, a freshwater pond in Cambridge, MA. Black's Nook is located in an urban setting, next to a golf course and a busy road. It is also close to Fresh Pond, part of the Cambridge Reservoir System, and it has connections to distant water sources which could influence its ecosystem.

Black's Nook is a popular field trip destination for Cambridge schools. The Maynard Ecology Center at Black's Nook provides classroom space and equipment which students can use to study the pond ecosystem. This website is an example of work done by sixth grade students at Black's Nook.
